Hurricane Dorian Facts
On Sunday, September 1, 2019, Hurricane Dorian made landfall in the Northwestern Bahamas impacting Abaco and Grand Bahamas as a Category 5 Hurricane. This devastation caused many to lose their beloved home. Many are displaced and in need of basic necessities.
Dorian was a category 5 hurricane, the strongest recorded hurricane in the Bahamas’ history, with wind speeds of 185 mph and storm surges of up to 23 feet. It is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country’s history. It was the fourth named storm, second hurricane, and the first major hurricane of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season.
